Breakfast time!

Margarita loves food, so breakfast time is one of her favorite times of the day! Look at how nicely she eats with everyone else. She even shares when our puppy Apollo sticks his face in her bowl. She is such a good girl.

Little Miss Social

Margarita is getting better at this adoption event business! She always starts off a little nervous when we get into the car, but after a few minutes she has a goofy smile on her face and is enjoying the car ride to our Petsmart destination.

We arrive in the parking lot and she looks at me knowingly as if to say "Hey! We just came to one of these scary things last week! Why aren't we at home snuggling?!" But like a trooper, she jumps out of the car and gives me a nervous look as we walk towards the chaos and the crowds. After about an hour of walking around her tail will start to wag and she'll bounce along in a happy trot as I offer her some of her favorite treats. She'll even take them from strangers and children as long as they approach her nicely.

At the end of the events this weekend, no one has scooped up our little Margarita, but that's just fine with me. I have another week of snuggling and puppy kisses ahead of me. Besides, Margarita worked very hard being brave and I think she needs some extra nap time.

Making Friends

Margarita has settled right in with our pack of puppies! Here she is with her foster sister Lucia, a shy shepherd we adopted from Lost Dog. The two of them love to play together and romp around the house.

Margarita is also good friends with our bossy little terrier Mamah and our rambunctious pit bull puppy Apollo. She has learned how to share her toys with the other dogs, especially our puppy who is a skilled thief. She doesn't mind sharing her food with him either since he is always shoving his face in her bowl. She is just a great member of the pack and absolutely loves other dogs.

My Snuggle Buddy

Margarita is a wonderful little snuggle buddy! She curls up next to me as I work on my laptop. She'd prefer to be on my lap covering my face in puppy kisses, but we've compromised with her sitting next to me while I pet her and she kisses my fingers as I type. She is such a love.

Antler Love

Yup. Margarita is in love with... the giant antler! These really are her favorite thing in the whole house!

A morning with Margarita

Margarita has settled right into our morning routine and I daresay she likes it. First, some cartoons and coffee while we finish up our breakfast.

Then some kisses and cuddle time while we finish our second coffee...

After all that snuggling it's time for some serious work... Chewing on antlers!

The life of a dog is so tough. :)

Sporty Little Jumper

Margarita decided that baby gates are an unnecessary barrier to love and jumped over ours to join me while I made breakfast for the puppies this morning. I should have known better than to try to keep her away from her person and her kibble! This girl is quite an athlete and can climb like a cat so I would never recommend letting her off leash outside, especially with her shyness. However, it was impressive!

Dingo Bones are Tasty

Margarita has discovered that meaty dingo bones are tasty treats. She also has some antlers as back ups.

Toys, Toys, and more TOYS!!!

Margarita is a big fan of antlers and chew bones. She has been collecting all of the bones and stock piling them on the dog bed as her own little treasure chest. Having found all of the bones she is starting her next pile of stuffed squeaky toys. So far the kong stretchy bunny is her favorite.

A Little R&R

Margarita had quite a busy day yesterday. So she's taking today to mellow out and relax on the giant dog bed.

Searching for a Home

Today we took Margarita to her first adoption event as our foster. She was nervous when we first got into the car, but I gently lifted her into the backseat. She made a bed out of Will's hoodie and started to smile as she looked out the window. Every once in a while she would pop her head between the two front seats and  touch my arm with her nose.

When we arrived at the adoption event Margarita was not super happy. Adoption events are terrifying for shy dogs. For most of the event she cautiously observed the chaos from a safe spot behind us with her little tongue sticking out, but once we brought out some treats she started to get interested in the people around her. She is still shy with my boyfriend, but he offered her some bacon and cheese buddy biscuits and he was suddenly the coolest person there.

By the end of the event she was walking around and taking treats from all. I expect she will keep getting better as she gets more comfortable.

Our First Night with Margarita

I picked up little Margarita from one of our Petsmart adoption events tonight. She was, as she always is at events, shy and nervous. Her little tongue was sticking out and her tail was tucked as she stayed low to the ground. I carefully picked her up and we hopped into the car and headed home. As soon as we got home we embarked on a little pack walk with my three dogs. Margarita quickly fell right in line with the others and walked along. She loves other dogs and you can see her light up when she is around them. Once we got inside she headed straight for the giant dog bed and got comfy.

After a couple hours it was dinner time! Let me tell you, Margarita LOVES food! She gobbled up her supper and decided she liked it here after all. In the course of the evening, we have discovered that this treat enthusiast loves duck treats, chicken jerky, beefy treats... well... She LOVES treats! She also found the antlers and started to chew away. I'm told she loves toys so I'm excited to see her pick out her favorites over the next few days as she gets more comfortable.

Margarita is already showing her love bug side, which is great for such a shy baby. I'll talk to her in a silly baby voice and her tail will start to wag happily as she follows me around the house. She surprised me tonight by jumping right up next to me on the couch and giving me sweet little face kisses. What a little love she has turned out to be!

Waiting for the Weekend

We will be bringing little Margarita home with us next weekend and are very excited! This shy sweetheart is always walking around adoption events with her tail between her legs and a nervous look in her eyes. She was found abandoned on a beach in Puerto Rico, so you can't blame her for being a little cautious initially. The fun thing about Margarita at events is that she LOVES treats! If you hold out a treat she will quietly stretch out to you to get it from your hands.

Before long that little tongue of hers is sticking out and reaching for treats. It is the funniest thing!

Then the hilarious little grin comes out while she sticks her tongue out at you. She is quite a jokester once she gets comfortable.
